- Sevmash needs to speed up, says Alexander Mandel, Director General of Sevmorneftegaz. Mandel also said that the construction is seriously lagging behind the schedule, only 300 mln RUB out of 2.4 bln RUB were spent over the first three months of 2008.
Director of the Sevmash yard, Nikolai Kalistratov, acknowledged the fact that the shipyard is facing certain problems.
- One of the main problems is workforce, he stressed. - The weather permits to conduct works on the upper deck of the platform, but we are really short-staffed. The workers at the construction of the Prirazlomnaya platform get one of the highest salaries of all employees at the shipyard – over 30 000 RUB per month.
The senior management of Sevmash believes such high salaries will help. But there are others hindrances as well, like continuous adjustments to the technical design.
Nikolay Kalistratov expressed a hope that the yards staff and Sevmorneftegaz will join forces and work together to solve all problems.
