A step closer Nordic defence cooperation

JAS Gripen (mil.se, Stas Aviation Press)

A new report on potential Nordic defence cooperation is today handed over to the Swedish government. In the report, the Armed Forces present more than 140 proposals on how to strengthen cooperation between Sweden, Norway and Finland.

Location

Chances for Nordic bilateral and trilateral cooperation are very good, the report concludes. More than 40 of the proposals should be implemented already in 2009, the authors recommend.

The 170-page report studies military cooperation on land, at sea, in the air, within logistics, personnel services, education, as well as analysis and development, Mil.se reports.

The Nordic Supportive Defence Structures (NORDSUP) Progress report is the second recent report on the possibilities for Nordic cooperation. A first report on closer cooperation with Norway was submitted to Government in August 2007.
