Norwegian town mayors against Russian NPP

A total of 16 municipal mayors in northern Norway have signed a protest letter against the Kola Nuclear Power plant’s planned prolongation of a reactor’s service life.

The letter will be handed over to regional Governor Yuri Yevdokimov by representatives of the Nature and Youth in connection with the latter’s upcoming meeting with Russia’s nuclear power company Rosatom, B-port.com reports. -We have come here to say that people in Norway fear an accident with the Kola NPP, environmentalist Kaja Senstad says. Russian authorities are expected to grant permission for a further extension of the NPPs ractors’ service life. The license of the plant’s reactor No 1 will expire on June 6.
