StatoilHydro drilled dry wells in Barents Sea

The "Polar Pioneer"

Norwegian energy major StatoilHydro did not find oil or gas in two appraisal wells at the “Tornerose” field in the Barents Sea.

Location

StatoilHydro had high hopes for the two wells located about 60 km east of the “Snohvit” field and 110 km northwest of the town of Hammerfest.

The wells were drilled at 2683 meter and 2603 depths with the “Polar Pioneer” rig.

The Tornerose field was discovered in 1987 and has an estimated 21,5 million tons of oil equivalents.
