The Bovanenkovskoe field, which after 2011 will produce a total of 115 billion cubic meters of gas annually, is the biggest in the Yamal, and a top priority for Gazprom.
During his visit to Nadym, the main town in the area, Mr. Ananenkov maintained that “there is no doubt that the start-up of the first and biggest of the fields in Yamal – the Bovanenkovskoe field – will be made in strict coherence with the schedules approved by Gazprom’s Board of Directors – that is in the middle of year 2011.”
In the meetings with project implementers, Mr. Ananenkov even discussed the possibility to open the field before schedule, Gazprom writes in a press note.
The Bovanenkovskoe will be connected with a pipeline, which is to transport the gas towards the west and importers in Europe. More than 2400 km of new gas pipelines will have to be built, including about 1000 km from the field to Ukhta in the Komi Republic. The Yamal field will also be connected with a railway line. The construction of the line “Obskaya- Bovanenkovo” was started last early last year. A total of 197 km of the line and 40 bridges have already been built, Mr. Ananenkov said during his visit to the site.
With its high focus on the Yamal peninsula, Gazprom will in few years be able to meet increasing demands from consumers both in Russia and abroad. Together with the nearby Kharasaveyskoe and Novoportskoe fields, the Bovanenkovskoe has a total of 5,9 trillion cubic meters of gas reserves.
