The German railway and infrastructure major will take part in planning of the Belkomur project, including the preparation of project documentation, logistical schemes, project management structures and training of staff, the Komi government informs.
In a meeting with Deputy Head of Komi government, Aleksandr Burov, company representatives also confirmed that Deutsche Bahn units and their partners could take a direct part in Belkomur construction works, as well as help recruit investors to a planned upgrade of the Arkhangelsk Sea Port, a press release reads.
The Belkomur railway line will connect the town of Solikamsk in the Perm Region with Arkhangelsk in an east-west connection, which significantly will facilitate transportation of goods from the southern Urals to the Arctic coast. The 1155 km long connection will have a projected annual capacity of 24 million tons of goods.
Partner regions Komi, Arkhangelsk, Perm, as well as Murmansk, during the recent Saint Petersburg Economic Forum signed a protocol on industrial cooperation which strengthen their commitment and strategic partnership in the Belkomur project.
As previously reported, the project is about to win support from several investors, among them the state-owned China Civil Engineering Construction Company.
