Finnish industrial output bounces back

Industrial production in Finland in the first half of the year increased 7,8 percent year-on-year.

Figures from Statistics Finland show that the Finnish industrial companies now are on their way back to pre-crisis levels. In the first half of the year, production increased 7,8 percent. Especially strong were results from May and June when output increased respectively 13,2 percent and 14,5 percent year-on-year.

In June output rose most in the forest industry, by nearly 31 per cent. Output in the metal industry (excl. electrical and electronics industry) grew by almost 26 per cent. In the chemical industry, working day adjusted output went up by 13 per cent in June, Statistics Finland informs.

Finland experienced a dramatic downturn in its economy in 2009. As reported by BarentsObserver, the crisis is still clearly felt in the country. Thus, in the first quarter of the year, the country’s exports and GDP continue to drop.
