Norilsk Nickel buys land in Murmansk Oblast

The Russian nickel plant in the town Nikel near the border to Norway.

The regional government in Murmansk expects to get significant sums from the sales of industrial lands to mining and metallurgy giant Norilsk Nickel.

In an interview with newspaper Vedomosti, Murmansk Governor Dmitry Dmitriyenko confirmed that Norilsk Nickel’s regional subsidiary Kolskaya GMK will buy land in the towns of Nikel, Zapolyarny and Monchegorsk.

-We offered them to buy out the land on which their industrial objects stand […] and the money we will spend on improving the monogorods of Zapolyarny, Monchegorsk, Nikel, where this land is located, the governor said.

Dmitriyenko confirmed that the cooperation with the company has helped increase the region’s budget incomes with 400 million RUB and raise regional investments with three billion RUB.
