The company supplies power to Murmansk, Karelia and St. Petersburg regions. TGK-1 is owned by Gazprom and Fortum. Prime-Tass reports Friday that Fortum is interested in purchasing all shares in TGK-1, but TGK-1 rejects the offer and says there are no plans to sell any assets.
Fortum is based in Finland and owns assets also in power supply companies in the Norwegian part of the Barents Region, like Ishavskraft in Finnmark. Fortum is 50 percent owned by the Finnish Government.
BarentsObserver reported in February that TGK-1 posted a net profit of 3 billion rubles in 2009. The additional 5.4 billion rubles added to the 2009 profit comes from an accounting move, which is related to two thermal power plants and a heating grid, reports The Moscow Times.
The net profit in 2008 was 1.2 billion rubles.
