The drilling programme in what is called Östra Järntjärnbäcken uranium bedrock in Västerbotten in northern Sweden started back in 2008. Results from the latest drilling show results of high grade uranium in the rocks.
The company holding the prospect, Hodges Resources, says the results are promising and that uranium found is a shallow depths. Therefore the prospect is potentially amenable to open pit mining methods, reports Steel Guru.
Uranium exploration in the areas around Arjeplog and Arvidsjaur could potentially come in conflict with local reindeer herding.
Test drilling in the area will continue next year.
