Karelia boosts hydropower

Will invest €360 million in building and modernization to increase electricity production.

Location

Republic of Karelia has signed an agreement with St. Petersburg based Nord Hydro to invest 14,5 billion roubles (€360 million) into hydropower plants. Over the next five years, 62 small hydropower plants will be built and modernised, reports HydroWorld.com.

The reconstruction of small hydropower plants alone will provide additional 100 MW, according to the investment portal of the Republic of Karelia.
