Regional leader in the Nenets AO Igor Fyodorov says in a press release that his region’s long experiences within oil and gas production can benefit the Shtokman developers. He also highlights that both Total and Statoil – the two foreign partners in the Shtokman project – are engaged in oil production in the Nenets AO.
While Total is operator company in the Kharyaga project with a 40 percent stake, Statoil holds a 30 percent stake. Other shareholders are Zarubezhneft (20%) and the Nenets Oil Company (10%). The Kharyaga project started production in 1999 and now produces 30,000 barrels of oil per day, Statoil informs
According to Governor Fyodorov, the SDAG will benefit from using the logistical capacities of the Nenets AO. The region has a fleet of helicopters which easily can be applied also in the Shtokman project, he says. He also believes that the region’s many oil and gas experts can make substantial contributions.
In the meeting with SDAG leader Aleksey Zagorovsky, Governor Fyodorov also suggested to establish a meteorological and rescue base for the Shtokman project at the island of Kolguyev.
