Nordnorsk Skipskonsult (NSK) is one of the very few Norwegian companies present in Arkhangelsk. The company’s main activity is ship designing, and has a design department of 11 engineers in the centre of the Pomor capital.
In addition to ship designing, NSK is also involved in real estate business, and possesses seven Scandinavan style apartments in Severodvinsk, which are being let out to corporate clients from different parts of Russia.
Earlier this year, NSK decided to expand its competence base in the real estate sector, and is now doing a study of the property sector in Arkhangelsk. The result of this work was presented on the networking meeting held by the Norwegian-Russian Chamber of Commerce in Arkhangelsk in September.
In addition to the market study, the report contains proposals on establishing a Norwegian office community in Arkhangelsk as well as potential investment and cooperation projects in the region. Apart from the study’s commercial goal, one of the main purposes of the project is to collect information which may be useful for other Norwegian companies which plan to establish business in Arkhangelsk.
There is no doubt that the timing for reviving the business relations between Norway and Arkhangelsk is very good, according to the study.
NSK’s partners in the project are Anco Eiendom (Tromsø), BJC (Trondheim), Arkhangelsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Sozvezdye. The project is co-funded with 50% by the Norwegian Barents Secretariat.
