Visa was one of the issues for discussion when the two presidents met in Milan last week, the Russian presidential press service informs.
In the press conference following the meetings, President Berlusconi assured his Russian counterpart that he will personally discuss the visa problem “on all European arenas”.
-A positive decision on the issue must be found in the nearest future, the Italian president said. He blamed the new former communist bloc countries in eastern Europe for obstructing progress on the issue.
He also said that he has approached Union President Herman Van Rompuy with a request to include the visa issue in the next meeting between EU state leaders.
