Itar-Tass quote the prime minister’s press spokesman Dmitry Peskov saying the planned meetings in Murmansk will be postponed for tomorrow, Friday.
- The visit by Putin to the Murmansk has been postponed because of the cloud of ash from the volcano eruption, his spokesman told AFP.
The airport in Murmansk was open for regular flights in the first part of Thursday, but it is unclear how the ash cloud will affect air-traffic in Northwestern part of Russia later. Air traffic in both neighbouring Norway and Finland has been grounded all Thursday due to the volcanic ash cloud.
The main aim of Putin’s visit to Murmansk is to hold a conference about development of the coastal infrastructure for taking in, processing and storing of fish products.
