Military satellites launched from Plesetsk

Rocket launch at Plesetsk (mil.ru)

The Russian Space Force on Wednesday launched two military satellites and other space objects into orbit from the Plesetsk space centre in Arkhangelsk Oblast.

Location

The equipment was successfully launched with a Rokot rocket system, RIA Novosti reports.

The Plesetsk Cosmodrome is located about 200 km south of Arkhangelsk City. The cosmodrome is used especially for the launch of military satellites placed into high inclination and polar orbits since the range for falling debris is clear to the north which is largely uninhabited Arctic and polar terrain. Currently, the Soyuz rocket, Cosmos-3M, Rockot and Tsyklon are launched from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome, Wikipedia informs.
