Speaking with journalists on Wednesday this week, Serdyukov said that the testing of the Bulava missile will be resumed “in the last part of September”, RIA Novosti reports. He also confirmed that a total of three launches are being planned.
As previously reported, Russian military was originally to conduct the first test launch in the period 9-12 August. However, the testing was postponed to early September. Then, a defence source said that “everything is ready for the resumption of test launches” and that “I do not think there will be any postponement this time”.
Still, the test launches were postponed yet again.

The Bulava missile is to become the main weapon of Russia’s new fourth generation “Borey”-class submarines. However, testing has shown major disorders with weapon and only five of 12 test launches are considered successful. The latest test launch took place on 9 December 2009.
