Jon Elvedal Fredriksen has headed Norway’s consulate general in Murmansk for the last three years, a period with historically good relations between Norway and Russia in the north.

The appointment of Jon Elvedal Fredriksen to Ambassador to Ukraina was made by the King in Council in Oslo on Friday.
BarentsObserver has previously reported that Norway’s Former Ambassador to Moscow, Øyvind Nordsletten, will be new Consul General in Murmansk, likely from early autumn. Nordsletten is considered to be one of Norway’s top diplomats, being Ambassador to both Ukraine and Ireland, in addition to Russia.
