The test-firing of Russia’s highly classified new intercontinental ballistic missile took place on Tuesday, but the missile soon disappeared from the military radar screens, report Rossiskaya Gazeta.
Military helicopters took off in search for the missile and found it eight kilometers from the launch pad. This is the fifth generation silo-based ICBM.
The missile is supposed to replace R-36M2 as the mainstay of land-based nuclear rockets within the next decades just as well as the new Bulava-missile when it comes to submarine-based ones.
The Bulava-missile has also had serious problems with several failed test-launches over the latest years as previously reported by BarentsObserver.
