Norwegian No. 5 million was born on Monday.

Location

Norway had the highest population growth ever last year with an increase of 1.3 percent. Immigration surplus accounted for 71 percent of the 2011 growth, according to the overview from Statistics Norway.

With the current rapid growth, the population will be 6 million by 2028. Norwegian No. 4 million was born in 1975.  Norway has one of the highest fertility rates in Europe with 1,88 in 2011. A boy born today has a life expectancy of 79 years, while a girl can expect to be 83,45 years old.

75 percent of the immigrants are coming from other European countries. Last year, all counties in Norway had increase in population, the largest in Oslo and surrounding areas.
