The Russian bulk carrier “Viktor Tkachyov” this weekend picked up 10000 tons of aggregates in Kirkenes, Arctic Norway, and set off towards Yamal.
The aggregates will be applied by Russian gas company Novatek in its development of Sabetta, the major port project in the Ob Bay.
It is the Tschudi Aggregates, a subsidiary under the Tschudi Group, which is delivering the bulk. The aggregates are produced from the waste rock generated from the local iron ore mines in Kirkenes. The company also supplies aggregates to Gazprom’s Arctic operations, among them in connection with the new Yamal pipeline across the Baydarata Bay.
The “Viktor Tkachyov” is owned by the Murmansk Shipping Company (MSCO), an enterprise which is taking on a major share of shipments to Sabetta. In a 3-year contract signed by the company with the Yamal LNG operating company last week, the MSCO will deliver 1,5 million tons of goods to the Yamal port. The operations will be conducted with the company’s ice-protected vessels, a press release reads.
