Murmansk Governor Dmitri Dmitrienko and Mayor of Lapland province Esko Lotvonen met this week to discuss regional cooperation and development between Murmansk Oblast and the province of Lapland in Northern Finland.
The recently renovated border-crossing point Salla-Alakurtti and the possibilities that are for project cooperation with the EU Kolarctic ENPI funding were some of the topics on the agenda between the two regional leaders, the regional council of Lapland writes in a press-release today.
According to barentsnova they also discussed re-opening the flights between Murmansk and Rovaniemi. Aeroflot-Nord closed down its Arkhangelsk- Murmansk- Rovaniemi- Luleå flight some few years ago. Barentsnova reports that the scedulles could be adjusted to connect such flights Murmansk- Rovaniemi- Helsinki ad further on to other European countries.
