The well was drilled some about 230 kilometers northwest of Hammerfest in the Norwegian part of the Barents Sea.
Southwest of the prospect is the Skrugard field where Statoil found oil and will start exploration.
Repsol Exploration Norge was the operator of the prospect, while the other partners are Concedo, Det norske oljeselskap, RWE, Talisman, Faroe Petroleum and Marathon.
