Director of StatoilHydro’s Melkøya unit, Knut-Erik Dalland, says to newspaper Finnmark Dagblad that his company is determined to invest in an extension of the Melkøya plant.
-It is not a question whether a further development will take place or not, but when it will happen, the company representative said.
-We have enough resources for a train two at Melkøya, he stressed. –In 2010, after having conducted studies, we will have more concrete plans, he adds. Over the last couple of years, StatoilHydro has made several unsuccessful exploration drilling operations in the Barents Sea. The company still remains determined to continue its high focus on the area.
The Melkøya LNG plant, located outside Hammerfest on the Barents Sea coast, is the northernmost plant of its kind. It serves the Snøhvit field, the first hydrocarbon field in production in the Barents Sea.
