Turning point for Swedish economy

After months of recession, the Swedish economy might now have reached a turning point, figures from Statistics Sweden indicate.

Location

The figures show that the economy in the second quarter of year shrunk 6,2 percent year-on-year, which is about the same as in the first quarter of the year, Statistics Sweden informs in a press release. Analysts had feared that the downturn would be more serious. Instead, the statistical figures show that there was no worsening of national GDP in the period, which might indicate that the recession has come to an end.

-This means that the economy probably has reached the bottom and that moderate growth can be expected in the last part of the year, economist Robert Bergquist from SEB told newspaper Dagens Næringsliv.
