Russian oil reloading by North Cape

The Kirkenes Transit company has got green light from the Norwegian Pollution Control Authority on year-round ship-to-ship reloading of Russian oil outside North Cape.

Location

Until now, the company has been allowed to reload gas condensate and only in parts of the year. Town mayor Kristina Hansen says to newspaper Finnmark Dagblad that the permission will open up for a major increase in activity level in the local Sarnes Fjord. –This means much for the municipality of Nordkapp, she says. Kirkenes Transit has over the last couple of years been reloading Russian condensate in the Sarnes Bay. The company also applies for permission to reload oil in the Bøkfjord Bay near Kirkenes. Most of the oil and condensate is believed to be handled in cooperation with Lukoil.
