A poll on consumer confidence from Nielsen Russia shows that Russians increasingly feel the consequences of economic crisis. Russians are now among the peoples most negative about economic prospects, the poll shows, newspaper Vedomosti reports.
The poll shows that 79 percent of respondents have cut expenses compared with last year. 65 percent say they buy less new clothing and spend less on amusement. 42 percent say they have cut their private food budgets.
Meanwhile, 55 percent of respondents consider their perspectives in the labor market as “not very good”.
The increasing level of Russian pessimism comes as unemployment reaches new hights. According to the Russian Federation of Labor Unions, Russian unemployment might this year reach nine million people. The Russian government has allocated 34 billion RUB in extra unemployment subsidies to help handle the unemployment, Rossiiskaya Gazeta reports.
