Construction continues despite economical downturn

Levi construction boom

The work at a number of ski-resort construction sites in Finnish Lapland continues despite of declining tourist numbers.

Location

In Levi, the best developed ski-resort in Lapland and a destination for many Russians and Norwegians, the construction continues of a four-star hotel which is to be the finest and the most expensive establishment in the region, featuring luxurious amenities for skiing tourists to enjoy. Whether or not tourists will find their way to the hotel in the current economic situation, nobody knows. According to Helsinki Sanomat the number of overnight stays at Levi hotels declined in March by some 20 percent compared with last year. The decline does not scare the Finnish construction company YIT which now plans to start building a condominium next to the hotel.
