Helsinki approves new Russian action plan

The Finnish government on Thursday presented its new action plan on how Finland should boost its commercial and neighboring relations with Russia.

The plan from the government presents the guidelines for management of the Finlands futher relations with Russia. Russia is again Finland’s most important trade partner.

The plan highlight the possibilities Finland have to strengthen the role of Finnish companies in the Russian energy market. The know-how of Finnish companies in the oil and gas sector should be marketed, states the plan.

The Russia Action Plan has been prepared under the leadership of the Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb and in consultation with representatives of other Ministries, business and industry, and the research community.

The Russian President Dmitri Medvedev will be in Finland on a two-cay visit, at the invitation of President Tarja Halonen. The visit will be the first that Medvedev makes to Finland since taking office, writes Helsingin Sanomat.
