Vladimir Putin congratulates Norway’s Prime Minister Stoltenberg

In a telegram to Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg on his 50th birthday, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin says that Russia highly validates Mr. Stoltenberg’s efforts in developing relations between the two countries.

In the telegram to Jens Stoltenberg Vladimir Putin says:

- Your efforts in strengthening the Russian-Norwegian cooperation are deservedly appreciated in our country. I am confident that the upcoming intergovernmental discussions in May this year will be marked with new agreements on further development of the good neighborly relations between Russia and Norway, the official Russian Government web site writes.

As BarentsObserver reported, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has said that he intends to raise issues of energy and of the Arctic when he meets with Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg in May.

Norway and Russia share the Barents Sea and have a wide range of common interests in the High North. The two countries also have a 196 km long land border.
