The “Energy Exerter”, a jack-up rig owned by the Northern Offshore company, has been drilling at the Dolginskoe field in the Pechora Sea. It will now be tugged to the Bøkfjord Bay outside Kirkenes where the rig will be placed on the heavy load carrier “Fjord” for further transport to Scotland. -Kirkenes is very happy to offer additional and alternative port possibilities for the Russians, Head of the local Henriksen Shipping company, Arve Henriksen, says to BarentsObserver. He underlines that Kirkenes is perfect for Barents Sea offshore operations because of its deep and ice-free fjords. The jack-up operation is unprecedented for the Norwegian town of Kirkenes. It will take place in early December this year. The Liberia-registered “Energy Exerter” is built in 1982 and owned by the U.S. company Northern Offshore. The vessel can operate on 100 meter sea depths and drill on maximum 8300 meter depths. It has Aberdeen in Scotland as its home port. The Energy Exerter will be picked up by the 159 metres long semi-submersible heavy transport vessel “Fjord”,
