There have been a Sami Radio operating in Murmansk Oblast for several years, but they have not previously had the oportunity to broadcasts their programmes for the entire region. Around 200 people speak Kildin sami language on Kola Peninsula today.
The fifteen minutes long programmes will discuss subjects which are important for the Sami population in the Murmansk region. Both language related issues and questions regarding the reindeer management, according to NRK.
The programs will last for three months in a test period, and then it will be decided if they can continue.
