Governor Yevdokimov – one of the Russian governors most engaged in foreign policies – during his visit to Oslo this week met with King Harald of Norway, four cabinet ministers, as well as several prominent business representatives.
The governor also paid a visit to the new Oslo opera, a unique piece of architecture, which officially opened last week, a press release from the Murmansk administration confirms.
During his meeting with Minister of Fisheries and Coastal Affairs Helga Pedersen, the development of fisheries in Murmansk Oblast was on the agenda. The two politicians also discussed the co-existence of oil and fisheries in the Barents Sea, the Norwegian ministry reports.
Mr. Yevdokimov was also expected to meet with the Minister of Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Oil and Energy, as well as Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
Murmansk is becoming an increasingly important region for Norway as industrial developments like the Shtokman project proceeds. Norwegian Foreign Minister Støre has himself on two occasions visited Murmansk.
