The governor announced her proposition during a meeting in Murmansk today with representatives for the fishery sector.
“Gennady Stepakhno is no stranger to this industry, he understands its problems very well and can do a lot in this position to change the situation for the better”, Kovtun says in a press release.
Stepakhno thanked the governor and said he will think the offer over. Stepakhno has been one of the key figures in the fishery sector in Murmansk for years. He was re-elected to the Regional Duma in 2011.
Pavel Bogushevich, who held position as Deputy Governor responsible for the region’s agriculture sector, has written a notice of resignation due to health issues.
