Jonas has been working for the Norwegian Barents Secretariat since 2008. He has a Masters Degree in Geography from NTNU in Trondheim from 2003. Between 2003 and 2008 he worked as a journalist in the local newspaper in Kirkenes, Sør-Varanger Avis.

In 1915 Norwegian researchers from the University of Oslo bought 94 buried Skolt Sami skeletons for less than one Euro per person. The skeletons were brought to the laboratory with the aim to study race and migration. On Sunday the skeletons were finally put to rest in their original grave on the river banks of the Neiden river. Hurtigruten Nordlys on fire outside Ålesund

The fire on Hurtigruten ”MS Nordlys” was alerted this morning while it was entering the port of Ålesund. Two of the crew members have died and sixteen persons are reported to have been injured as a result of the fire.
