Komi’s foreign trade down

The foreign trade is down 21 percent year-on-year for the first nine months of 2009.

The Republic of Komi had a foreign trade turnover of €446, reports MarchmontNews with reference to statistics from the Syktyvkar Customs.

Komi exported goods to 95 countries, with Kazakhstan, Finland, Iran, Ukraine and Italy as the most important. Imports came from 51 countries, predominantly Finland, the Czech Republic, China, Germany and Italy.

Wood/pulp- and paper products and petroleum products acconted for 80 percent of the export, while mechanical engineering products accounted for 78 percent of imports, according to MarchmontNews.

Earlier this week, BarentsObserver presented the Barents Monitoring report about Komi’s Q2 economical status. The report tells that the Komi Republic in the first half of 2009 saw a strong increase in investments, a booming construction industry and a steady industrial production.
