Lukoil-Komi gets warning after spills

Prosecutors in the Komi Republic have issued a warning to regional oil major Lukoil-Komi after several serious spills in the region.

First Deputy Prosecutor in the region has publicly warned the oil company against neglecting industrial security regulations, RBC.ru reports.

Only the last two years, more than ten spills have taken place in the oil-rich republic, most of them from ruptured pipelines. Several of the spills have caused significant damage on nature in the area. The last of the registered spills took place on 9 April this year.

The Lukoil-Komi company operates in the Komi Republic and the neighboring Nenets Autonomous Okrug. Annual production of the Lukoil subsidiary amounts to about 15 million tons of oil.
