Crash-plane might take off again

The Tupolev 154 from Alrosa airlines that crash landed outside a closedown airfield in the Komi Republic.

The Tu-154 aircraft that crash-landed at a closed-downed airfield in the Republic of Komi earlier in September might try to take off again from the far-to-short runway.

Location

The large aircraft lost its electrical supply on its way from Siberia to Moscow on September 7th and the pilots spotted the closed airfield in Izhma, north of Ukhta in the Komi Republic and “miraculous” managed to land the aircraft.

All of the 72 passengers and eight crew members onboard could safely slid down the emergency chutes as the aircraft finally stopped in the forest far out of the runway.

Now, experts and pilots are examining the possibilities to repair the three-engine aircraft and make an attempt to take off again from the 1,350 meter short runway, reports the regional Komi edition of Komsomolskaya Pravda.

According to experts quoted by the newspaper, the threes on all sides of the runway must be cut-down if it is decided to make an attempt to take off with the Tu-154 aircraft again. If so, special test-pilots will be in cockpit. The expert commission can also come to the conclusion that it is better to cut up the aircraft.

Without passengers or cargo, a Tu-154 aircraft weights more than 50 tons.
