Arkhangelsk governor to Brussels

Ilya Mikhalchuk will present a regional Russian view on European Arctic policy.

Location

Governor Mikhalchuk will participate at a workshop on June 24th where multi level governance in the Arctic is on the agenda. The workshop is organized by NorthNorway European office in Brussels.

Arkhangelsk is one of the most important Russian gateways to the Arctic, with several research institutions and shipping industry active in the Arctic.

The workshop will also be attended by participants from the European Commission and Members of the European Parliament.

From Norway, State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr. Erik Lahnstein will present the Norwegian High North policy. Also, County Governor of Troms Pia Svensgaard will contribute with a speech about how the regional level can play a role in Arctic policy from a Barents perspective. Svensgaard is currently the Head of the Barents Regional Council.
