Denmark appoints Arctic ambassador

Denmark has appointed its first permanent Arctic ambassador whose primary task will be to coordinate activities connected to the country’s Arctic strategy.

Location

Ambassador Klaus A. Holm is appointed to the post and will, according to Foreign Minister Sovndal, ensure progress in the Arctic and ensure the Danish National Community a visible position in the international debate on the Arctic.

- Profound changes are happening in the Arctic now that gives us challenges and opportunities. We are determined to solve these together with Greenland and the Faroe Islands, he says to Danmarks Radio.

Ambassador Klaus A. Holm has been employed in the Foreign Ministry since 1980 and has served at the Danish embassy in Paris and London and at the EU representation in Brussels.
