Mari Boine is likely the most famous musician of the Barents Region today. She is known for having added jazz and rock to the yoiks, the chanting song of her Sami people.
The Moscow concert next week will take place at the Central House of Artists.
Mari Boine’s concerts in places like Murmansk and Lovozero on Russia’s Kola Peninsula have been very well received by the Russian audience.
Her latest CD, “Sterna Paradisea” from 2009 is recognized by many critics as the best work in Boine’s more than 20-year career.
