Oil through icy Ob Bay before 2016

The Novoportovskoye will deliver an annual 8,5 million tons of oil, most of it to be shipped out through the Ob Bay.

Gazprom Neft agrees with the federal government on how to conduct oil shipments from the Novoportovskoye field.

Location

The company, a subsidiary of Gazprom, has signed an agreement with the federal sea port development company Rosmorport about the construction of oil reloading facilities at Cape Kamenny, a key infrastructure hub for the Novoportovskoye field.

According to the agreement, the state-owned company will assist the Gazprom Neft with the development of the reloading complex.

The new terminal will be linked with a 100 km pipeline connection to the oil field and have a 8,5 million ton capacity, a press release from the company informs. As previously reported, oil from the terminal will be shipped out also along the Northern Sea Route.

The new port is to be ready for operations before the end of 2015, Gazprom Neft informs.

The Novoportovskoye field is with its estimated 230 million tons of reserves, the biggest oil field in the Yamal Peninsula. The Cape Kamenny is located in the southern part of the Yamal Peninsula, about 400 km south of the Sabetta port, the terminal currently under development by Novatek and its foreign partners.

Gazprom last year started production at the Novoportovskoye and the first 10,000 tons of oil was last winter transported out first by trucks 200 km on ice roads to Payuta, a station on the new Yamal railway line, and then subsequently taken southwards by rail.
