Faktoria is a remote district of Arkhangelsk it is built up with 2-storey wooden buildings surrounded by trees and small gardens -
This year was very rich in berries and mushrooms, even sea-buckthorn may be found in abandoned previously cultivated areas. Obviously, more and more people again are getting used to pick berries and mushrooms in forest -
Chumbarovka” is known by a number of old wooden houses which were moved here from different parts of the city in 1970-s when Arkhangelsk experienced a huge reconstruction. Now it reminds how Arkhangelsk looked 100 and more years ago. -
– Chumbarovka connects the central square of Arkhangelsk which is obviously called Lenin’s square with the Central Market and another big square of the city – Profsoyuzov -
This is of course the Lenin’s square with a huge monument to the Leader of world’s proletariat. It is by the way the very last monument to Lenin built in the Soviet Union. It happened in 1988 and the place where Lenin stands today was former occupied by the big fountain. -
It is very hard to be lost in Arkhangelsk because you can always see the local “skyscraper” – 22-stored building which shows you direction to the center of the city. -
Arctic Awards exhibition is impressive both for children and adults. -
The students of art schools in Arkhangelsk often take part in the Barents cooperation project. On this photo the Russian and Norwegian students are preparing for the exhibition called Arctic Articulation. -
Handmade and handicrafts fair is organized in Gostinye Dvory museum which is the oldest building in Arkhangelsk -

Here you can see the examples of old typical Russian wooden architecture which is not very often to meet today. -
Arkhangelsk is quite green compared to many other cities in the North. Although there are no big parks you can often meet small green squares like for example this small park, one of the most favorite among the citizens. It is called Petrovsky park in the memory of Tsar Peter the Great. -
Skating season is started! -
Winter began too early in Arkhangelsk. Lakes already were covered by ice in the middle of October. -
Arkhangelsk people are fans of different winter sports. -
Late autumn is not the most pleasant time of the year. But in this park one could find it quite charming. -
Petrovsky park is a popular rendezvous’ place. -
– This is the building of the oldest gymnasium in Arkhangelsk. In a few years it could turn 200 hundred years. Now the building is not in use but in the future it may become a university gymnasium.
