Chumbarovka” is known by a number of old wooden houses which were moved here from different parts of the city in 1970-s when Arkhangelsk experienced a huge reconstruction. Now it reminds how Arkhangelsk looked 100 and more years ago.

This is of course the Lenin’s square with a huge monument to the Leader of world’s proletariat. It is by the way the very last monument to Lenin built in the Soviet Union. It happened in 1988 and the place where Lenin stands today was former occupied by the big fountain.

Arkhangelsk is quite green compared to many other cities in the North. Although there are no big parks you can often meet small green squares like for example this small park, one of the most favorite among the citizens. It is called Petrovsky park in the memory of Tsar Peter the Great.

– This is the building of the oldest gymnasium in Arkhangelsk. In a few years it could turn 200 hundred years. Now the building is not in use but in the future it may become a university gymnasium.
