Location

Ilya Mikhalchuk gets only two of five possible points in the rating, published by the fond Peterburg Politics, Dvinainform reports.

The political survival of the Arkhangelsk Governor is, according to the experts, threatened by his low popularity and numerous conflicts inside the regional elite. In the previous rating the political perspectives of the Governor Mikhalchuk were measured to “three” points.

A poll in January showed that more than one third of the inhabitants in the region were dissatisfied with the work of the governor Ilya Mikhalchuk, BarentsObserver reported. 35 percent said they were unpleased with Mikhalchuk’s work, while only 19 percent think he does a good job.

In September 2010, Arkhangelsk Oblast was ranked among the worst regions in Russia in a regional management rating from the federal Ministry of Regional Development, as BarentsObserver reported. The rating ranked the region as number 81 of 83 federal subjects.

Six other governors, those of Kursk, Kurgan, Moscow, Omsk, Tver and Tula Oblasts, also get low points in the ranking by Peterburg Politics.
