Sevmash shipyard is considering a proposal from the Norwegian MOSS Maritime on construction of a semisubmersible platform, Baltinfo.ru writes. This platform is planned to be half the size of the Moss CS-50 platform that Sevmash earlier delivered to the same client.
The shipyard recently lost two orders for construction of semisubmersible platforms because of the financial crisis, Deputy General Director at Sevmash Valery Borodin says. The orders were cancelled because of the field in Mexico where the equipment was meant to be used, was closed.
Sevmash is in the finishing stages of construction of the ice-strengthened platform Prirazlomnaya, which will be stationed at the field with the same name in the oil-rich Pechora Sea. The platform will be ready for operational and verification testing next spring.
