While hundreds of people took to the streets in Murmansk and Arkhangelsk, not all local authorities were willing to give permissions to arrange demonstrations. In the town of Apatity on the Kola Peninsula people used little toys with miniature banners to express their opinion.

The organizers of the “nano-rally” called on people to bring their own toys from Kinder Surprise chocolate eggs, and provide these with slogans fit for a protest. The mixed and matched group of toys “will exactly depict our society”, the organizers’ group on the social media network VKontakte reads.

The “protesting” toys carried slogans like “We are for honest elections”, “We need an alternative” and “We are no toys”.
