Russia steps up bid for foreign assets

The Russian government will establish a special company which is to help Russian companies acquire foreign assets.

The establishment of the new company has the heavy support from several government ministers and company leaders among them Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin and Rosneft leader Sergey Bogdanchikov. The new company is to be headed by Natasha Tsukanova, the former top manager of the Russian branch of investment bank JP Morgan. She is to consult both the Russian government and Russian businesses about foreign assets. -The main task of Ms. Tsukanova will be to consult the Russian government about deals on international expansion, a source close to the negotiations told newspaper Kommersant.
