Nord Stream reservoir for Baltic countries

The Nord Stream pipeline

The Nord Stream company might extend its unprecedented Baltic pipeline project with the construction of a major gas reservoir in one of the Baltic countries.

Location

A representative of the Nord Stream company this week said to the Latvian newspaper Kauno diena that a branch line might be built from the 1200 km underwater pipeline towards a reservoir based in one of the Baltic countries, newspaper Gazeta reports. The Nord Stream pipeline will stretch from Vyborg in Russia to Greifswald, Germany. The pipeline will be on the agenda when German Chancellor Angela Merkel this week visits Lithuania and Estonia, Oilru.com reports. Nord Stream will be partly fuelled with gas from the Shtokman field in the Barents Sea.
