An Arctic Ostrich Farm

Ostriches may be native to African deserts, but this ostrich farmer says they get by just fine in the Russian Arctic too.

Location

One thousand kilometres north of St. Petersburg, Murmansk is the largest city north of the Arctic Circle.

The city is home to the tallest building in the Arctic and Russia’s northernmost ice-free port.

Just outside the city is another unexpected site — the world’s northernmost ostrich farm.
